Do you feel like your life is just really hard? Feel like you are always behind schedule or missing key things or just exhausted at the end of every day? Ever feel like you were destined for more, for something bigger, but just didn’t know how to go about making it happen? Maybe you just need a fresh perspective, one outside your current life. Maybe what you need is a mentor.
Here at Uncommon Sense, we are not a big fan of the term “life coach”. However, we could all use a mentor or coach in our lives, someone who just shows us the ropes and kind of lays things out for us. They don’t do the work for us, we do it, but it sure is nice to have that heads up. Like a big brother going into high school first before you do is hugely helpful. And many of us are blessed with those people in our lives already. Or maybe you just have a great little core of friends who help each other and hold you accountable. That is fantastic. Unfortunately, though, many of us don’t have that mentorship in our lives or we have it but only in a specific area. What we need is a person to come in, listen to us, sort everything out, and then build a vision for our immediate or long-term future. How valuable would that be to you?
Success. We all want it. We all try for it. We don’t all get it. Why? And what is success, to you at least? Surprisingly it is different for everybody. And as we go along in life, we get clutter in the way. Baggage. Things which hold us up or downright derail us from success. What we often need is for someone, not directly in the thick of it, to come in and remind us of what is important and what we are trying to do to be our own version of success. A fresh perspective.
I have spent the better part of the last 30 years seeking out hard things. I got a doctorate in Systems biology, served as a professor at public and private Universities, published 25 peer-reviewed studies, served as a personal trainer, wrote and published a book on leadership, reached the top ranks of sales for a solar company, and a number of other things all while maintaining a marriage and raising a daughter. I’ve moved eight times during that stretch, lived in two different states, received awards, failed to get a ton of jobs, rented and owned houses, changed hobbies half a dozen times, started a business, and recently started building this school. I tell you this not for my own ego but to demonstrate the breadth of life I have lived. And it is from this breadth that I wish to share my knowledge and skills I acquired while doing all these things. I want to help people identify their dreams, develop their vision for that dream, and put together the goals and day to day schedule to becoming their best self. Imagine having a Ph.D. level coach, your own life professor. What could you accomplish?
